We’ve made the often close knit world of Mastic Sealants, a bit more,,, Social, in the form of our specialist Facebook group – Sealants Social!
Love it or hate it, you cannot ignore Facebook nowadays and the addition of ‘groups’ has opened up a world of possibilities to keep in touch with your fellow trades people to share tips, ask for (or provide) advice, solutions and best of all it gives you a chance to vent your spleen to like-minded folk and or just need a good laugh on your coffee break, then this community group is the place to visit!
As of the 19th August 2020 the group’s member total is at 427 and rising everyday, it’s a good time to get involved!
***update*** as of 16th November we’re up to 517 members. (We done a £1500 prize draw to celebrate –see below)
Is Sealants Social just for mastic men?
Although many ‘non sealant specialist’ trades people like to think they’re ‘perfect’ at applying mastic joint sealants as waterproof or decorative finishes to their work, and, granted, some are above average at tooling off to a neat finish etc. these guys are often just amateurs trying to cut costs for their jobs! Dating back to the early 70’s in the UK, a secret society of specialist joint sealant applicators has existed, collectively known as ‘Mastic Men’. These guys don’t claim to be ‘jack of all trades’ or have 17 x ‘sideline skills’, they specialise solely in neat, high quality, mastic joint finishing in cost-efficient timescales and are usually proud to tell you that!
The Sealants Social community
We, as a company with a rich heritage in the trade, recognised the fact that it’s fairly unique in the construction industry to have such a separatist skillset and so, we set out to bring this band of brothers from all over the UK, Ireland & even the Channel Islands, together in a social sense, with our targeted Facebook community group SEALANTS SOCIAL.
Tips, tricks, advice, solutions & plenty of banter
The introduction of this group was met with some hesitancy at first, with just the odd few invites cautiously accepted and some declines from the moody ones that obviously shun the limelight 😂 Over the course of the following year, we welcomed many new members via invites from their friends or work team members, growing in population to over 300 members as of the date of this blog post. As well as the odd poll or questionnaire from our own admin. regarding certain materials or tools used in the industry, there’s a healthy splattering of mastic joint sealant work pics, the good, the bad and the downright ugly! The banter is usually friendly and the camaraderie is cheeky but polite, with the odd ‘debate’ becoming a matter of diverse opinions!
