What is Sika FastFix All Weather Paving Compound?
Sika FastFix All Weather is a self-setting paving joint compound that provides the ideal solution to perfect pointing on paving, paths and patio in a ready-to-use, unique sand-based formula containing Active Resin Technology for advanced durability, making it super easy to apply in all weather conditions including wet surfaces conditions and remarkably can even be applied when its actually raining!
What can Sika FastFix All Weather Paving Compound be used for?
It’s speed and ease of use make the product perfect for all applications where a robust, neat decorative finish is required, such as footpaths, stone setts, cobbles and Indian sandstone paving slabs. Unlike other external jointing solutions, Sika FastFix won’t shrink or crack over time and is suitable for use on all joints from only 20mm deep.
Why use Sika FastFix All Weather Paving Compound instead of traditional pointing?
Unlike traditional sand, cement and plasticiser mixes, Sika FastFix can be used immediately with no mixing required, has the consistency of wet sand and acts the same during application, making it easily manageable to sweep and brush into joints with a near, self-levelling action with slight tooling off. Packaged in an airtight, thickened foil sachet bag, once opened, the remaining material can be emptied into the supplied tub, immersed in water and stored for up to a month.
How do you apply Sika FastFix All Weather Paving Compound (quick guide)?
As mentioned above, Sika FastFix All Weather Compound comes as a ready-mixed, wet sand material, packaged in an airtight foil bag then handily inside a resealable plastic tub. The material is simply poured directly onto the surface and then brushed into the joints and left to cure by air.
Is there detailed application instructions available?
APPLICATION
1. Ensure the paving is installed as per watchpoints leaflet and all joints to be pointed with Sika® FastFix All Weather are free from standing water, dirt, debris or weeds. The dimensions of the joints must allow for a full compaction of the material once applied. The minimum joint depth should be at least 20 mm and the joint width 5 mm.
2. Thoroughly wet the entire area where Sika® FastFix All Weather is to be applied with water. This includes not only the joints, but also the entire slabs. Allow any standing water to drain before Sika® FastFix All Weather is applied.
3. Remove the product from the packaging and cut the foil pack. Once punctured or opened the material must be used within one hour. Any unused material can be stored in the bucket, immersed in water, for up to 1 month.
4. Use Sika® FastFix All Weather in small manageable amounts. Avoid spreading over a large area before ap- plication. Ensure material is all loose by raking through. Do not try to break up and use any small set lumps. Do not add any extra sand.
5. Using a soft broom, or hand brush for smaller areas, work Sika® FastFix All Weather into the joints. Make sure each joint is completely filled. If the freshly laid product is flooded, for instance due to rain, the setting period might be extended.
6. Using a suitable pointing trowel make sure the freshly applied Sika® FastFix All Weather is thoroughly compacted within the joints. The process should also smoothen/flatten the surface to the desired level. The step of thorough compaction is essential.
7. Sika® FastFix All Weather will start to set in 6-12 hours above 15 °C in dry conditions. Allow up to 5 days for full set in temperatures between 4 °C and 15 °C. Contact with rain or moisture can temporarily soften the product if wetted before full set.
